Baseball Recap: Early Has No Trouble Against Fair Play

Early's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Fair Play Hornets 14-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Conor Stockton made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stockton was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Francka was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Landon Tomlinson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Early always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Early's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Fair Play, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Early will challenge Pleasant Hope at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fair Play, they will take on Humansville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
