Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock secure win for West Valley

Recap: West Valley Eagles vs. Foothill Cougars

Even though the West Valley Eagles have not done well against the Foothill Cougars recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. West Valley came out on top against Foothill by a score of 65-53. Winning may never get old, but West Valley sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Leading West Valley to victory were Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock. Kalnins scored 25 points along with two steals, while Heacock scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kalnins hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Blaze Collins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Foothill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tyler Zanhiser, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Cade Memeo who scored 12 points along with six steals. Caleb Belair was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.

Foothill struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Valley racked up 13 assists.

West Valley pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Foothill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.

West Valley will take on University Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to face off against Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
