Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Silver Bluff

Silver Bluff entered their tilt with Edisto on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ryley Bowman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Silver Bluff let Makayla Allen and Kerington Weathersbee run wild. Allen scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Weathersbee scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Weathersbee has posted since back in April of 2024. Quinn Hornung was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

Silver Bluff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edisto only posted an OBP of .267.

Silver Bluff's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Edisto, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Silver Bluff will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fox Creek at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Edisto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Barnwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Warhorses have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
