Shelby County scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Western Hills Wolverines. The Rockets lost against the Wolverines in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 40-0 score last time.

Shelby County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Xay Owens, who rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 87 yards and one TD.

Western Hills found their leader in sophomore Jt Jackson, who rushed for 105 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Micah Cleveland, who gained 120 total yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Shelby County and nudges their season record down to 1-8. As for Western Hills, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby County will welcome Fairdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Hills, they will be playing at home against Frankfort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
