The Drury Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Mount Anthony Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Drury will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
On Sunday, Drury was able to grind out a solid win over Monument Mountain, taking the game 9-4.
Connor Hinkell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hinkell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JJ Prenguber, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Mason Fierro was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mount Anthony's offense. They fell just short of South Burlington by a score of 1-0 on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by just one run.
Jacoby Dicranian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
Drury's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Anthony, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1.
Mount Anthony's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Drury hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .397. It's a different story for Mount Anthony, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Drury's hitters?
Drury might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Mount Anthony in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
