Basketball Game Preview: Lindhurst Blazers vs. Vacaville Christian Falcons

The Lindhurst Blazers will take on the Vacaville Christian Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lindhurst is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Highlands: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lindhurst blew Highlands out of the water with a 50-9 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-9.

Lindhurst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashlynn Wheeler led the charge by putting up 15 points. The dominant performance gave Wheeler a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danaya Stephens, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Vacaville Christian waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 53-15 victory over the Spartans.

Vacaville Christian found their leader in freshman Elena Vizcay, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Vizcay is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jenna Glide was another key player, earning nine points and three steals.

Lindhurst is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Vacaville Christian, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Lindhurst won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January, slipping by Vacaville Christian 31-30. Does Lindhurst have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vacaville Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
