Softball Game Preview: Glencoe Crimson Tide vs. Sunset Apollos

The Glencoe Crimson Tide will head out to take on the Sunset Apollos at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Glencoe's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Sunset's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Glencoe took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Westview 7-1. The Crimson Tide might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Allison Glaze was incredible, going 1-for-2 with six stolen bases and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Hadlie Werner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Sunset waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Apollos have posted since March 21st.

The team relied heavily on Mia Kodachi, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sofia Santana, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Sunset pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Glencoe, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Glencoe came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunset in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Crimson Tide have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Apollos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
