Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is North Pontotoc's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Pontotoc walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Louisville Wildcats on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Kinsley Frazier, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kendall Villarreal also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

North Pontotoc always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Louisville only posted an OBP of .267.

North Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Louisville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-10-1.

North Pontotoc wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-2 victory against Tupelo on the 17th. Hopefully Louisville paid attention to the Vikings' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
