Basketball Recap: Fayetteville Takes a Loss

Fayetteville suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by the Flatonia Bulldogs 80-25. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Fayetteville used a three-pronged attack on offense: Cambree Denham, Lainey Gromaski, and Maycee Miller posted five points each. Paige Jurecka held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Fayetteville's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Flatonia, they pushed their record up to 26-4 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Fayetteville will face off against Moulton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moulton will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Fayetteville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Flatonia, they will challenge Rosebud-Lott at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Flatonia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Rosebud-Lott likes a good challenge.
