Basketball Recap: West Marshall Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Marshall can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 75-19 loss at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Mustangs. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

With the defeat, West Marshall broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, the win was the 23rd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-1.

West Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Vernon, they will square off against Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday. One thing working in Mt. Vernon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 contests.
