Basketball Recap: Newton County Takes a Loss

Newton County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 63-37 to the Choctaw Central Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Warriors are ranked third).

Newton County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Choctaw Central, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton County will venture away from home to square off against Northeast Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Choctaw Central, they will head out to challenge West Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Choctaw Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
