Union County proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 17) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Chesnee Eagles 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Yellowjackets as they're now sitting on six straight.
Union County's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Chesnee, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.
Union County and Chesnee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. The Yellowjackets (ranked 17th) will meet Woodruff (ranked 62nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chesnee will challenge Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (68 vs. 206).
