Softball Preview: Union County Panthers vs. Gilmer Bobcats
Union County has been away from home for two games now, but on Wednesday they'll finally make their return. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Panthers faces off against Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Union County will be strutting in after a win while Gilmer will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Union County finally turned things around against Murray County on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Indians out 5-4.
Meanwhile, Gilmer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-5 to Ridgeland.
Gilmer saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Henson, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, Henson also racked up two hits, the mostshe's had since back in August. Another player making a difference was Emma Cagle, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Gilmer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Union County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14. As for Gilmer, their loss dropped their record down to 5-22.
