Baseball Recap: Strathmore Takes a Loss

Strathmore extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-14. They came up short against the Lindsay Cardinals, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Jackson Garfield made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lindsay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Lindsay's side, Espinoza Alex was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Alex has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Cortes, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Lindsay: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Espinoza, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Strathmore had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
