Softball Game Preview: Valders Vikings vs. Two Rivers Purple Raiders

The Valders Vikings will square off against the Two Rivers Purple Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Valders proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Brillion 6-4.

Megan Hochkammer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Arianna Hernandez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Makayla Dallas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Two Rivers had just enough and edged out Kiel 6-5 on Tuesday.

Anna Klein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Valders pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Two Rivers, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
