Lakeside Christian came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Canterbury, but Mattingly Pizzo wouldn't allow it. The Crusaders narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lions 3-2 for which the team can thank Pizzo, who hit 69.2% for 22 kills and 40 assists and six aces. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (98-94) Canterbury actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 18-25, 11-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Canterbury's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lakeside Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record.

Looking ahead, Canterbury will take on Sarasota Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeside Christian, they will host Academy at the Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
