Softball Recap: Fairdale Bulldogs vs. Holy Cross Cougars
Fairdale had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-14 to make it seven. They came up short against the Holy Cross Cougars, falling 15-1. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Cougars when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Fairdale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Higdon, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for Holy Cross, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
On Holy Cross' side, Breelyn Willett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Willett was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Holy Cross got a massive performance out of Alyssa Priddy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Priddy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Fries, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Looking ahead, Fairdale will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Glasgow at 1:00 p.m. As for Holy Cross, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 22-3 win against Valley on the 9th.
