Softball Recap: Nanakuli Takes a Loss

Nanakuli was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-10 to the Campbell Sabers. Even if the Golden Hawks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jhanz Kaawa-Kawai made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jenna Ku, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Kaawa-Kawai wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Nanakuli lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Nanakuli's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Campbell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Nanakuli will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wai'anae at 3:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Campbell, they will take on Grand Terrace at 10:00 a.m. on March 22nd.
