Softball Recap: Commerce Gets the Win

Commerce proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Mahar Regional Senators 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 1st.

Adrianna Medina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nyasia Garcia was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Genevieve Conis-Koffman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs.

The victory got Commerce back to even at 6-6. As for Mahar Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Commerce will square off against Palmer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mahar Regional, they will face off against Putnam Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
