Football Recap: Connor Whapham Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Twinsburg

With a playoff win on the line, Nordonia rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Twinsburg Tigers 27-24. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 35-33 on October 3rd.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nordonia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Whapham, who rushed for 201 yards and one touchdown. Those 201 rushing yards gave Whapham a new career-high. Steven Fakult was another key player, rushing for 68 yards and one score on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Nordonia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Nordonia and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Twinsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Nordonia will challenge Walsh Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. Twinsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
