Softball Recap: Farmington Takes a Loss

Farmington dropped their record down to 15-11 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes by a score of 7-6. If the Farmers were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Tornadoes when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Abingdon/Avon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-16. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

For Abingdon/Avon's part, Emma Gunther was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Gunther has posted over her last 14 contests.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Farmington will take on West Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Farmers are facing the Cyclones at the right time seeing as the Cyclones are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Abingdon/Avon, they will challenge Princeville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tornadoes will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Princes will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's game.
