Volleyball Recap: Ionia Bulldogs vs. Eaton Rapids Greyhounds
After flying high against Alma last Thursday, Ionia came back down to earth. The Ionia Bulldogs fell just short of the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Ionia actually scored more points across those five sets (105-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 18-25, 11-25, 27-25, 16-14.
Eaton Rapids can attribute much of their success to Jada Loveless, who had 16 digs.
Ionia has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-11-1 record this season. As for Eaton Rapids, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-6-2.
Ionia will be playing at home against NorthPointe Christian at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. NorthPointe Christian is coming into the match with five straight victories on the road, so Ionia will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Eaton Rapids, they will venture away from home to face off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
