Basketball Recap: Chesnee Comes Up Short

If Chesnee was feeling good fresh off their 47-24 takedown of High Point Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chesnee Eagles were beaten by the Landrum Cardinals 54-24 on Friday. The Eagles were down 41-16 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Chesnee's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlee Turner, who posted five points and six boards.

It was another big night for Kylie Fortner, who earned 27 points for Landrum. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Cain, who had eight points and five steals.

Chesnee's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Landrum, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Chesnee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-42 defeat against Greenville Tech Charter on the 11th. As for Landrum, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-32 win against High Point Academy on the 11th.
