Sonoma Valley had won six straight games and Cayden Waldrop did his part to make it seven on Saturday. The Dragons breezed past the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons to the tune of 57-21 for which the team can thank Waldrop, who rushed for 281 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Another player making a difference was Colin Buckley, who picked up 180 receiving yards and one TD. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Sonoma Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chuy Ordaz and Buckley. Buckley's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 109 receiving yards. Luis Botello was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Sonoma Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Archie Williams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Coming up, Sonoma Valley will square off against Terra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Waldrop and Jake Rehfeldt. As for Archie Williams, they will take on Healdsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Peregrine Falcons will be up against the Greyhounds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
