Lakeland won the last time they faced Western Wayne and things went their way on Monday too. The Chiefs walked away with a 4-1 win over the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Chiefs have won by exactly three runs.

Lakeland's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chase Magnot, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Magnot has posted since back in May of 2025. Another was David Naniewicz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lakeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Wayne only posted a batting average of .231.

The win made it two in a row for Lakeland and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Western Wayne, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will face off against Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Western Wayne, they will take on Riverside at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
