Basketball Recap: Campbell County Falls Despite Big Games from Austin Davie and Garyn Jackson

Campbell County was the 65-53 winner over Ryle when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Campbell County Camels took an 83-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ryle Raiders on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (67), the Camels still had to take the loss.

Garyn Jackson and Austin Davie certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jackson almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds, while Davie went 12-for-22 en route to 25 points and eight boards. Davie has become a key player for Campbell County: the team is 17-5 when he posts at least 15 points, but 0-4 otherwise. Braden Elam was another key player, putting up nine points.

Campbell County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. As for Ryle, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Campbell County will venture away from home to square off against Nicholas County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ryle, they will host Bishop Brossart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
