The Boone Grove Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the New Prairie Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Boone Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so New Prairie's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Boone Grove came out on top against Portage on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Wolves took their game against the Indians 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
Seth Pitcock made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Boone Grove: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Johnny Bobos, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Boone Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, New Prairie unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 15-4 to Hanover Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 11th.
Reed Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Boone Grove's record is now 12-5. As for New Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Boone Grove has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like New Prairie struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Boone Grove suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to New Prairie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
