Softball Game Preview: Grant Park Dragons vs. Clifton Central Comets

For the second straight game, Grant Park will face off against Clifton Central. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grant Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Grant Park will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Clifton Central, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. The Dragons never let the Comets get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

For Clifton Central's part, Sydney Jemar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Grant Park's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Clifton Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grant Park has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clifton Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts.
