Recap: Piedmont Panthers vs. West Stanly Colts
It was a good run, but the Piedmont Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Stanly. Piedmont was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Stanly apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Piedmont still got an impressive performance from Emily Polk, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds. Polk has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Camryn Kaminski, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Piedmont's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for West Stanly, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Piedmont will be playing in front of their home fans against Anson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Anson is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for West Stanly, they will head out on the road to square off against Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
