Softball Recap: North Central Wolfpack vs. Pullman Greyhounds
North Central had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it 13. They lost 23-1 to the Pullman Greyhounds. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Greyhounds this season, with their most recent loss being a 28-4 defeat on Saturday.
North Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josephine Harwood, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those hits marked the first that Harwood has got this season.
As for Pullman, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 18.8 runs.
On Pullman's side, Kinsey Rees was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Rees has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Pullman got a massive performance out of Cori Stewart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Stewart a new career-high. Mj Druffel was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Central will square off against Deer Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stags will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Wolfpack surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pullman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarkston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
