Baseball Recap: St. James Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

St. James Academy barely beat Joplin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Eagles on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Thunder sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Hayden Wren tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, John Hornback was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ben McDermott, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

St. James Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. James Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-7-1. As for Joplin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Coming up, St. James Academy will face off against Piper at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Joplin, they will challenge Willard at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
