Football Game Preview: Middlesex vs. Rivers

Rivers will challenge Middlesex on the road at Middlesex School at 2:30 PM on Saturday. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, Rivers now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.

Rivers couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 6-40 punch to the gut against Noble & Greenough last Saturday. The loss was a vexing one since Rivers were expected to win based on their state ranking.

Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Middlesex, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 7-27 loss to Thayer Academy. Middlesex were down by 0-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous game, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
