Basketball Recap: Dominic Brogan and John Brogan Secure Win for St. Mary's

St. Mary's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm with a sharp 56-36 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-27 back in January.

St. Mary's was led to victory by John Brogan and Dominic Brogan. John went 10 of 18 en route to 25 points along with six boards and three steals, while Dominic went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points and four steals. That's the most points John has posted since back in November of 2024. Jaylon Creer was another key player, putting up seven points.

Despite the loss, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy still got an impressive performance from Nick Runte, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points and three steals. That was a full 38.9% of Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Mitchell, who earned eight points and five rebounds.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-19 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

St. Mary's will welcome Trinity School of Texas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge King's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Athens Christian Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge.
