Basketball Recap: Carlos Caballero's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sunrise Christian Academy over Melissa

Sunrise Christian Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 60-38 to the Melissa Cardinals. The matchup marked the Buffaloes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sunrise Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Caballero, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 12 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Canaan McElroy, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Sunrise Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Melissa, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sunrise Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Wichita HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Melissa, they will head out to square off against Anna at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
