Softball Preview: Thornton Trojans vs. Adams City Eagles        
        
		
             Thornton is 8-2 against Adams City since September of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Thursday. The Thornton Trojans will look to defend their home field  against the Adams City Eagles  at 4:00  p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
 Thornton had been on  a  four-game streak of scoring at least ten  runs, but Conifer put an end to it  on Saturday. Thornton took  a  6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Conifer.
  Raea Fisher was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-2 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Adams City might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Arvada who claimed the real prize. Adams City fell just short of Arvada by a score of  5-3.
  Leyla Jaquez put in work no matter where she played. She  struck out 11 batters over  seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  pitched less than six  innings in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
 Thornton's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 5-11. As for Adams City, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost four of their last five matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record  this season.
 Thornton was able to grind out a solid  win over Adams City in their previous matchup  two weeks ago, winning  8-5. Does  Thornton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Adams City turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
