The Mountain View Toros will square off against the Chandler Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Mesa on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Toros.
Brenna Campos tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Mountain View got a massive performance out of Tierah Metcalf, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Metcalf has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keelie Goodman, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Mountain View lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Chandler can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Kofa with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Wolves not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th.
Isabelle Ashike Osorio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Ashike Osorio was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Cian Noli was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-6. Lily Kolsrud was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Chandler, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mountain View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Chandler struggles in that department as they've averaged .493. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View took their victory against Chandler when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 13-2. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Chandler has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
