Football Game Preview: Liberty Magnet Patriots vs. Catholic Bears

Liberty Magnet is 0-3 against Catholic since October of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Patriots will challenge the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Catholic took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty Magnet, who comes in off a win.

Liberty Magnet's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 64-0 victory over Bogalusa. The Patriots' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Zaiden Foster and AJ Stephens. Foster rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries while Stephens rushed for 104 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. Foster is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 114 every time he's taken the field this season.

Liberty Magnet was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Liberty Magnet didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ashton Lafleur and Peyton Thornton.

Meanwhile, Catholic is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Madison-Ridgeland Academy. The Bears were just a hair shy of victory and fell 27-26 to the Patriots. While the Bears had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Patriots 13-7.

Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Liberty Magnet, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Liberty Magnet took a serious blow against Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 42-14. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Patriots were down 28-0.
