Football Recap: Caprock Comes Up Short

Caprock fell victim to Palo Duro and their airtight defense on Thursday. They took a blow against the Dons, falling 48-0. The Longhorns lost against the Dons in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 12-0 score last time.

Juan De La Cruz threw for 68 yards on nine of 18 attempts. Alhosan Sheriff was his top target, picking up 29 receiving yards. On the ground, Xavier Vargas rushed for 41 yards.

Julian Reese II was nothing short of spectacular for Palo Duro: he threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 52 yards on only five carries.

Caprock's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Palo Duro, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caprock will welcome Pampa at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Palo Duro, they will look to defend their home field on the 12th against Canyon at 7:00 p.m.
