Basketball Recap: Del Valle Has No Trouble Against Horizon

Del Valle posted their biggest victory since November 14th on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Horizon Scorpions as the Del Valle Conquistadores made off with a 71-50 win. Given the Conquistadores' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Scorpions are ranked 1324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Byan Mei, who went 9 of 10 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Nunez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Del Valle is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Del Valle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-58 victory against Parkland on the 20th. Horizon has also already played their next game, a 63-30 defeat against El Dorado on the 20th.
