Softball Recap: Oak Lawn Continues Road Dominance on Friday

While Oak Lawn's win against Hancock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Eagles 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Aleksandria Blanco made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danielle Dempsey, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Zoe Lepe also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Oak Lawn's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-12. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hancock, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-13.

Coming up, Oak Lawn will welcome Romeoville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Oak Lawn is facing Romeoville at the right time seeing as Romeoville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Hancock, they will head out on the road to face off against Argo at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Argonauts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
