Softball Game Preview: Decatur Eisenhower Panthers vs. Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos

The Decatur Eisenhower Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Decatur Eisenhower is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Decatur Eisenhower's offense. They lost 19-0 to Mt. Zion on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Cerro Gordo/Bement had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Teresa on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Broncos have posted since May 10, 2024.

Mya Durbin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Cerro Gordo/Bement saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sierra Personette, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Cerro Gordo/Bement's record now sits at 4-15. As for Decatur Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Decatur Eisenhower might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Cerro Gordo/Bement when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
