Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Western Hills

Western Hills entered their tilt with Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Cougars have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Dudley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Western Hills let Sophia Castellanos and Taylor Torres run wild. Castellanos scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Torres went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Torres' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eva Almendarez, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Western Hills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Diamond Hill-Jarvis struck out nine times.

Western Hills' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Diamond Hill-Jarvis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.
