Softball Recap: Blackfoot Has No Trouble Against Idaho Falls

Blackfoot hadn't done well against Idaho Falls recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Tigers. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Kylee Pratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Blackfoot let Brianna Reynolds and Sela Christiansen run wild. Reynolds went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Christiansen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Christiansen's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Staley, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Blackfoot lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.

Blackfoot's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Idaho Falls, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Blackfoot will head out to take on Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Idaho Falls, they will welcome Pocatello at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Thunder have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
