Preview: Sanford vs. Sangre de Cristo

Sangre de Cristo will challenge Sanford on the road at 6:00 PM on Friday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps national rankings predict a close match.

It was all tied up at halftime, but Sangre de Cristo weren't quite Las Animas's equal in the second half when they met last week. Sangre de Cristo were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 26-32 to Las Animas. It was a tough break for Sangre de Cristo, who improved upon an already decent score from the game before but lost both times.

Meanwhile, Sanford simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat Swink 66-0. With Sanford ahead 46-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Sanford's victory lifted them to 2-0 while Sangre de Cristo's loss dropped them down to 0-2. If Sanford want to win, Sanford will need to focus on stopping Sangre de Cristo's sophomore Kevin Enriquez, who caught passes for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns, and senior Manuel Lopez, who caught passes for 118 yards and threw 2 TDs. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
