Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Wayne County War Eagles
The Quitman Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Wayne County War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Quitman is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, Quitman came up short against Laurel and fell 46-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Quitman has scored all season.
AIYANNA DEAR put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of AALIYAH NIXON, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Wayne County was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Grove on December 5th, taking the game 42-35. Given Wayne County's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Oak Grove is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Wayne County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Quitman strolled past Wayne County when the teams last played back in November by a score of 61-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Quitman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
