Football Game Preview: Bangs Dragons vs. Tom Bean Tomcats

The Bangs Dragons will challenge the Tom Bean Tomcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bangs took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They secured a 20-14 W over Coleman.

The critical scores for Bangs came from Cason Tidwell, Connor Bible, and Eliseo Rivas.

Bangs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 175 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Bangs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brennan Mendieta and Bible. Jaxon Duncan was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Tom Bean's strategy against Trenton two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tomcats blew the Tigers out of the water with a 56-0 final score. Considering the Tomcats have won six contests by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Tom Bean's win came down to the chemistry between Donnie Hooten and his top target Camden Stephens. Hooten threw for 248 yards and five TDs on perfect 19-for-19 passing while Stephens picked up 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Hooten a new career-high in passer rating (177.1).

The victory made it two in a row for Tom Bean and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Bangs, their record is now 6-4.
