Basketball Game Preview: Ballard Memorial Bombers vs. Carlisle County Comets

The Ballard Memorial Bombers will square off against the Carlisle County Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ballard Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

On Saturday, Ballard Memorial needed a bit of extra time to put away Massac County. They skirted past the Patriots 77-75. Given the Bombers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 113th in Kentucky, while the Patriots are ranked 304th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carlisle County came up short against Paducah Tilghman on Saturday and fell 70-62. The loss continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Blue Tornado: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Carlisle County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Wyatt Rickard dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. Rickard's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Heath Mcbride was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Ballard Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Carlisle County, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Ballard Memorial beat Carlisle County 61-49 in their previous meeting on Friday. Does Ballard Memorial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carlisle County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
