Basketball Recap: Monrovia Comes Up Short

Monrovia suffered their biggest loss since January 30th on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Burbank Bulldogs and fell 94-51. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 830th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 407th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burbank to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Dehbashian, who went 13 for 19 on his way to 29 points in addition to six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Dehbashian has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamran Alborzian, who shot 6-for-9 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards.

Monrovia has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Burbank, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Monrovia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-61 victory against Jurupa Hills on the 27th. As for Burbank, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-55 win against Mark Keppel on the 27th.
