Ezekiel Academy entered their tilt with Evangel Christian on Friday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Evangel Christian Lightning, sneaking past 52-50. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 50-24 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ezekiel Academy was led to victory by Kelson Free and Elijah Taylor. Free went 6 for 9 on his way to 18 points and seven boards, while Taylor posted 17 points along with four blocks and three steals. The match was Free's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerard Johnson, who scored ten points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Evangel Christian lost, don't look at Jonathan Gill. Despite the final result, he earned 11 points in addition to five boards and three blocks. That's the most points Gill has posted since back in January of 2024. Paul Dixon was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Ezekiel Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-3. As for Evangel Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Southern Christian the next time they take the court. Evangel Christian will head out to face Southern Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Ezekiel Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
