Basketball Game Preview: Bellmont Braves vs. Norwell Knights

Bellmont is 2-8 against Norwell since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bellmont Braves will face off against the Norwell Knights at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Saturday, Bellmont had to suffer through a 70-39 loss at the hands of Columbia City. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while the Eagles are ranked 134th).

Meanwhile, Norwell entered their contest against Fort Wayne Wayne on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Norwell came up short against Fort Wayne Wayne, falling 66-46. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bellmont's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Norwell, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4.

Bellmont didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Norwell in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellmont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
